Urban Living RSS FeedsThe Curse - Omer Pasha has released his debut music single and video The Curse. The single has two video versions The Curse (The Forebodings and The Curse Unveiled follow a theme and story Unveiled of thrill, horror, love based on a strange haunting in Surrey, Vancouver. The Curse Unveiled Video is derived by Pasha from non-fictional events that he actually did experience in Surrey which is an actual city in Vancouver,BC,Canada.Living there was very lonely and Pasha had seem to experience phenomena's like the presence of extraterrestrial forces constantly around him when he walked alone on the streets of Surrey, especially his school ground,at night at day.Thats the reason he uses a witch in his video of The Curse Forebodings and The Curse Unveiled to represent this strange presence of something constantly around him, looking at him, deliberately irritating him, in his time in Surrey. The reason why he gives the prologue of everything you do comes back in time to you is because he ...Feed Source: feeds.urbanvancouver.com Burberry top 5 Fall Winter entry level - I've already touted Burberry Prorsum's Mens' FW 2008 line and with their first quarter total revenue already up by 22% I'm sure we're going to see even a larger increase for the duration of 2008. I'd argue that their accessory line is motivating this increase.
Strategically, Burberry is on the right path. Entry level luxury brand consumers can approach the line through its accessories and become loyal followers as their income grows.
Here are my picks for Burberry's entry level consumer:

... Kick Start - Best mens boots for Fall - Pull yourself up by your boot straps because this season is all about boots.
Whether you're grabbing the ubiquitous Beatle boot, the vintage combat or the city overboot you can't go wrong.
Here are my eight picks for Fall: photos are here:

1. John Varvatos - anything by Mr. Varvatos looks hot for fall. You've gotta rock when your boutique is in the old CBGB's space.
2. Ann Demeulemeester - Ms. Demeulemeester has made a name for herself with her womens' boots, now it's the guys turn! Go to her site for pics.
... Google Chrome: If you haven't tried it yet, you really should... - It's early yet for beating the drum and singing praises, but so far, I like what I'm seeing. This little program seems to be designed to simplify our lives, rather than make them more complicated. I hope they show Microsoft how it's done! And they don't insist that everything should be 'Google' - and I suspected they might - and I was wrong.
They give you a choice of using any of the major (or minor) search engines currently known to mankind, and all you have to do to get one of them going is open Chrome, select Tools (look for the little wrench in the upper right), then find the button marked 'Manage', click it, and choose your favorite search engine from a l-o-n-g list, which also has a second list below it in case you didn't find your choice in the first 14 - See how easy it is? Browsing can be fun. Try it
... Moderne Burger - Vancouver, BC - It appears that Moderne Burger?s traditional popularity with Vancouverites has not abated at all, as seen by the plethora of people visible inside as well as in lineups stretching outside their front entrance on West Broadway. A as a first timer to this place, it sure seemed to me that this is a tribute to the loyalty of their fans, forgiving nature and hungry desire to have their favorite burger joint back up and running after what I understand has been a long period of downtime. I wanted to figure out for myself if I?d enjoy the product offering as much as these diehards, and this review is based on a recent takeout order that I had.

... "More later"..... so, this is later...Google Chrome in action. -
Here it is in action, folks .First Impression = "Winner!" Go get your own :)
... So - what happened to the Google browser launch??? - Welcome to 'Browser Wars' everyone. So far, Google's entry in the dozen-or-so browsers line is a 'no show', and they've removed links to its previously-leaked download site. Mozilla has also said there will be a 3-week or so delay in its next release of Firefox 3's upgrade, and that will also get another session in beta before going 'prime time'.
Looks like everybody's looking over everyone else's shoulders, and revamping their own stuff in hopes of getting the jump on the competition. For whatever it's worth, I don't see anything terribly wrong with Firefox 3, that a little twiddling with the Bookmarks code couldn't cure. So what's all the excitement about? (Yawn ) What excitement? This is about as exciting as three-day-old cow pies, Kiddies. I wouldn't lie to you about that.
Update: -
The squeaking wheel gets the grease - and a download of Google's Chrome Beta, if you want one. Just checked again, and there's an announcement on their main page just now for it... Nine male style makers you should know - You've been gearing up for the season for two weeks now, you went to Radiohead, you've been thumbing the pages of Vice, subscribing to supertalk.superfuture, quizzing your hairstylist, but you just can't seem to place your finger on it - your look for Fall.
The thing with men's fashion is, is that you don't want to look like you've been gearing up for the season - don't worry I won't tell.
Here are my nine pics for men's looks you should mold into your own.

This just in from Mr. Google..... - Maybe you should read this one for yourselves, everyone, and then you'll know that I'm not just spreading idle gossip. Tomorrow, we see the beta of Google's 'Chrome', the new browser, so says Mr. Google. I can't hardly wait
Here's a little more on this from the news and still more here. And yet more here And now, for a few words from the boss over at Firefox about this and I must say I enjoyed the description of what Google is and isn't. Right on! This all brings me to my Question Everything which is: "When does the hype end and the happening begin?... Sai-z Japanese Restaurant - Vancouver, BC - Dare to be different. Amid the hundreds of restaurants offering sushi in the greater Vancouver area, in all forms from the horrifically bad but cheap all-you-can-eat, to very good but preferably-on-expense-account options, it is clear that some have taken a step to differentiate. When it comes to their creations, some have been quite bold and have included ingredients that would make die hard traditionalists cringe and scream bloody murder. Sai-z is clearly one of them, incorporating a creative blend of traditional and non-traditional ingredients in many of their dishes. Case in point, their use of fruits such as mango and papaya in some of their sushi rolls!

... 5 Denim Selections for my man - The time had come for my husband to buy some new denim. He loves fashion but hates to shop, nothing a few double shots of espresso and a maverick of a wife couldn't fix!
To the fitting room he went with Diesel, Dior Homme, Filippa K, Nudie, and APC.
Review:
Dior Homme 19cm - his favourite. They looked amazing but he didn't like the wash - he wants the dark.
Filippa K - not a good cut. He's a 29 or 30 waist and the hip area looked like riding pants.
Diesel Darron - very nice price, very nice fit. They fit larger so go down a size.
Nudie Long John - looked pretty sexy to me but he felt like he was wearing leotards.
APC NS - didn't have the right size but definitely potential!

... 'Oldest Living Blogger' asks: "Was your power off this morning?" - "So," you ask, "What were you doing when the lights went out?" I'm glad you asked me that, because I'd like to tell you. May I?
I was in the midst of filling out a 'feedback' form on a CTV website, when the old computer blacked out, and then flickered a few times, and then showed me a page of black screen with white printing, telling me what to do to get it recovered and functioning again and it seemed to already know about the power outage, because it mentioned that specifically. I thought that was very interesting - Why? - Because .
Because I spent 20 years of my life in some of the gawd-awful'st places in not-always Beautiful British Columbia at B.C. Hydro generating stations and distribution stations doing my bit to keep your lights on - before Hydro's brass decided they could do it cheaper with people who didn't know how, or didn't understand why, or wouldn't go where it all got done.
So me and about a thousand of my fellow old-timers got pushed out ... Dances with Dependency: Success through Self-Reliance with Calvin Helin, Aboriginal Rights Author & Advocate - The shackles of dependency on government welfare have fostered atrocious living conditions for generations of Canadian aboriginals. If poverty could be reduced by increased funding alone, we would have seen success and an atmosphere of hope thriving decades ago.
This long-standing problem has generated insightful solutions from Calvin Helin, author of the ground-breaking best-seller Dances with Dependency: Success through Self-Reliance. He suggests that an ownership society involving private property rights and true representative democracy on the part of aboriginal band leaders will create economic prosperity.
Join us for a journey through this politically sensitive topic to see that change is not only possible, but well within reach.
